I ran across something interesting today. I had to launch internet explorer in Windows 10, which can be done from the Edge browser by clicking on the “more actions” icon (the three dots on the right edge of the active edge window) to download a file from QuickBooks. The file was downloaded to my “desktop” folder, but did not appear on said desktop. Where it actually downloaded to was a virtual desktop that was buried several folders deep. Pay attention to the actual path to the download, not where it claims the destination is. Evidently in Windows 10 Internet Explorer runs in its own virtual machine. When I attempted to change the download location to my external drive, it wouldn’t access it, nor the physical “C” drive. Easy workaround was to copy the actual folder location of the download(s), open file explorer and navigate to that folder and drag/drop them where I wanted them to go.
